OiI Pan Gasket Installation problems 4 hours in?
I can’t pull down the gasket pan. It’s almost like its gripped where its connected to the transmission. I losened the support transmission, losened the exhaust, removed oil filter what am I doing wrong? This was to be a hour job tops, any help out there for a Jeep 96 Grnd Cherokee 4wd, 5.2L, V8.
I also was told to replace the front main seal… Will this be a problem too? I even bought the Manual to help but it hasn’t yet.
I also removed the starter. Everything the manual asked. It looks so simple but it is mechanical work…
Depending on when the last time the gasket was replaced, it could just be acting stubborn. Once you’ve removed the endless number of bolts holding the pan in place, just force a flat head screwdriver between the trans and pan…it will pop off. OK Dont “force” the screwdriver, but use enough pressure to pop the pan loose.
Be sure to use a razor blade to remove any extra parts of the old seal that may be left.
