My computer is turning on as it usually does, but only the startup screen shows up and nothing else.?
I had a power outage last week but I wasn’t home. I’m pretty sure the computer was off but am not 100% sure. I have my computer hooked up to a surge protector.
When I press the power button, it turns on and it sounds like it normally does but on the monitor only the startup screen shows up. (Says “Sony,” which is the first thing that comes up whenever I turn on my computer)
Only this screen shows up and it doesn’t continue to boot up, even though the computer sounds like it’s running properly.
Does anyone know what might be the problem?
When your PC starts up try hitting F2 or DEL key to enter your BIOS. Once there you want to go to the last page and choose load all defaults and exit with save. Let the system restart. If you continue to have the problem, then you might want to think about using your recovery CD’s if you have them and boot from those. it sounds like you have a boot sector issue on the HD and that’s why it wont go any farther.
