Dr. Harl received numerous awards and honors during his optometric studies. He was a member of the NSU Honor Society, Beta Sigma Kappa (honors fraternity), was the recipient of the Certificate of Clinical Excellence Award, the Heart of America Contact Lens Student Grant awarded for scholarship, leadership and civic duty, and was honored with the Chester Phieffer Award for Vision Science Research. Dr. Harl is licensed to practice full-scope optometry, and can treat eye diseases such as conjunctivitis, eye infections, dry eye, glaucoma, macular degeneration as well as other conditions causing pain or reduced vision. Dr. Harl has a special interest in children’s vision and vision therapy. As a child, Dr. Harl was diagnosed with strabismus, or an eye turn, which was later corrected with surgery and vision therapy. He has a true understanding for the special needs and considerations of children with eye and visual conditions. Dr. Harl studied Vision Therapy while at NSU and completed an internship with a vision therapy clinic in Wichita, Kansas. Dr. Hart received the Dr. Martin Kane award for research in Vision Therapy in 2005. Dr. Harl is a member in good standing of the Maryland Optometric Association, American Optometric Association and College of Optometrists in Vision Development. In his free time, Dr. Harl enjoys spending time with his wife Sarah and their young son, Trysten. Dr. Harl is committed to providing his patients with the highest quality services and products and developing a lasting relationship with his patients based on trust, confidence, and service. His goal is to exceed his patients' expectations every time they enter the doors of Visionhealth Center!
